A BETTER READ ON YOUR GAME
Your sessions. Your spreadsheet.
A simple Google Sheets and Excel template, ready to bring into GoodRun as CSV.
Free web tools · No account · No ads or tracking. Calculations stay in your browser.
Two fictional sessions show the format. Delete both example rows before you start logging your own play.
Made with GoodRun. The downloads need no account. To use Google Sheets, upload the file to your own Google account; Google’s storage and privacy terms then apply. GoodRun does not receive your spreadsheet.
Make your own copy in Google Sheets
- Download the Excel template above. Open Google Sheets in your own browser tab.
- Create a blank spreadsheet. Choose File → Import → Upload, select the downloaded file, then choose Create new spreadsheet.
- Your imported sheet is already your own copy. To duplicate it later, use File → Make a copy. There is no public sheet or sign-up link to follow.
- On the Sessions tab, delete the two fictional rows (keep the header). Add one row per session. Keep the column names so GoodRun can suggest the right fields.
- When you want to move to GoodRun, select the Sessions tab and choose File → Download → Comma-separated values (.csv).
What goes in each column?
- Date · Time · End
- Date as YYYY-MM-DD; Time is the start in 24-hour HH:mm. End can be HH:mm (01:30 after 19:00 means the next day), or a full YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm for longer sessions. Keep these cells as text.
- Venue · Game · Type
- A venue name, a game such as Hold’em or Omaha, and cash or tournament.
- Stakes · Currency
- Cash stakes as 1/2 (or 1/2/4 with a straddle). Leave stakes blank for tournaments. Currency is a three-letter code such as USD, HKD, KRW or JPY.
- Buy-in · Rebuy amount
- The first buy-in and the total money in additional entries/rebuys, separately. Rebuy amount is money, not a count; do not include it twice in Buy-in.
- Cash-out · Expenses
- Total money cashed out, including 0 for a bust. Expenses are tips and costs that should reduce your result, without counting anything already included in buy-ins twice.
- Notes
- Anything you want to remember. Quoted commas and line breaks survive CSV export. The example notes identify the fictional rows.
| Session | Total in | Cash-out | Expenses | Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1/2 cash · 4 hours | 200 + 100 | 420 | 10 | +110 |
| Tournament · overnight | 100 + 0 | 0 | 5 | −105 |
Bring it into GoodRun
- Export only the Sessions tab as CSV. GoodRun does not read .xlsx files directly.
- In GoodRun, open Settings → Import & Export → From other apps → Spreadsheet (CSV).
- Check the suggested mappings: Date → Start, Time → Time of day, End → End, and Rebuy amount → Rebuys / add-ons (amount). All other columns use their matching names.
- Check currency, number formats, dates and the preview before tapping Import. A row needs a date and a cash-out (0 is valid). Remove every fictional example first.
Net result is cash-out − buy-in − rebuy amount − expenses. GoodRun calculates it from the money columns; there is no spreadsheet formula to break. Individual rebuy times, hands, players and staking do not transfer through this template. Read the full spreadsheet import guide →
Track this automatically with GoodRun.
Keep sessions, stakes and expenses together, so your next estimate starts with your own history.
