SWITCH FROM A SPREADSHEET OR CSV

Switch from a spreadsheet.

If your history lives in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or an app GoodRun has no preset for, import it as a CSV and tell GoodRun which column is which. You do that once.

Import in GoodRun

Available now

Settings > Import & Export > From other apps > Spreadsheet (CSV)

Export from your app

Most apps and sheets can save a CSV.

Excel: Save As, CSV.

You need

A date for every session.

And a cash-out or a result.

1. Export from a spreadsheet or CSV

  1. In Excel: File > Save as and choose CSV. In Google Sheets: File > Download > Comma-separated values (.csv). Excel files (.xlsx) cannot be read directly, so always save as CSV first.
  2. One row per session works best. You need a date column and either a cash-out or a result (profit) column. Everything else is optional.
  3. Helpful extra columns: end time or duration, buy-in, rebuys, expenses or tips, venue, game, stakes, currency, notes, and for tournaments the name, place and number of players.

2. Import into GoodRun

  1. Open GoodRun and go to Settings > Import & Export > From other apps > Spreadsheet (CSV).
  2. Choose your CSV file. Comma, semicolon and tab separated files are all fine.
  3. GoodRun suggests which column is which from the header names. Tap any field to choose another column, or “Not in this file”.
  4. Set the currency to use when the file has none, and how numbers (1,234.56 or 1.234,56) and dates (day/month or month/day) are written.
  5. Check the preview, then tap Import. Turn on “Remember these columns for files like this” and the next file with the same header opens already mapped.

What carries over, and what does not

Carries over

  • Start and end, or start plus duration.
  • Cash game or tournament, game, stakes and venue.
  • Currency, buy-in, rebuys and cash-out, or just the result.
  • Expenses and tips.
  • Notes, tournament name, place and number of players.

Does not carry over

  • Individual rebuys with times, action sold, hands and player notes. Those live in GoodRun’s own backup file.
  • Files with one row per transaction (deposits and withdrawals) rather than per session.
  • Excel files saved as .xlsx. Save them as CSV first.
